Short, stocky, and irritable, Duncan Hunger was born the youngest of five brothers on a remote farm in Cornwall. He had a tough start in life. His mother died giving birth to him, something his frequently-drunk father never let him forget. Duncan developed a sharp tongue early on which would get him into trouble throughout his life. He left the family farm when still young and travelled to nearby Blackrabbit Island to start a new life — first as a carpenter, then a toymaker. His disastrous relationship with a local politician left him with deep emotional scars which would go on to have a detrimental effect on his relationship with Robin Shipp. In WE CRY THE SEA Duncan will be forced to make a choice – forge a new future or retreat to the past.
